i-Image Project
My ImagineIT project will take students and I on a journey to find the mathematical beauty in the world around them. This is something that has been lost in my class because of current stressors from standardized testing, but without this element, the essence of mathematics is lost. Everything in the world can be represented by patterns. Students’ ability to see and understand the patterns in the world around them is critical to help students understand the world in which they live. The photos that I selected for my i-Image project were selected because each one shows a naturally occurring pattern that can be found throughout the natural and man-made world. The Voronoi Pattern, the Golden Spiral of the Fibonacci Numbers, and Fractal Branching can be found in the photos that I have selected. The quotations that I selected portray mathematics as a beautiful, loving, and poetic attempt to understand the patterns that occur in our world.
